Abreva has been shown to prevent cold sores from worsening. Even better, if you have those pre-outbreak warning symptoms such as tingling, itching or burning, starting Abreva early can help most people prevent cold sores from developing at all.
Directions: Apply Abreva 5 times a day only to affected area(s).
Appropriate for use by adults and children 12 years and older.
Wash hands before and after applying cream.
Do not apply to or get in eyes.
Cold sores are due to the herpes simplex virus and are highly contagious. Do not share your cream with anyone or you risk spreading the infection.
Call your doctor if the cold sore is worsening, spreading or not fully healed within 10 days.
